Baseball Takes Midweek Contest At Robert Morris[이스턴일리노이대학교]

The Eastern Illinois baseball team was able to take their midweek game against Robert Morris-Springfield. The Eastern Illinois offense was able to overpower Robert Morris defeating the Eagles, 11-5.


With the win Eastern Illinois improves to 9-11 on the season, while Robert Morris dropped to 1-10.


Logan Beaman got the call on the mound for the Panthers in the midweek contest Wednesday afternoon. Beaman tossed 6.2 innings, with four strikeouts, five hits, four runs (two earned). Beaman was able to pick up his first victory of the season, improving to 1-1 on the year.


The Panthers came out strong offensively in the first inning immediately taking the lead. Jimmy Huber got the Panthers on the board in the top of the first hitting his first home run as a Panther.


Robert Morris was able to take the lead in the bottom of the second scoring two runs. Alston Howard would score the first run for the Eagles when he was able to reach home on a Josh Turnock error. Later in the inning the Eagles scored their second run on an Eric Antenan single to left.


After the Panthers tied the game in the top of the fifth inning on a Huber sacrifice fly, Eastern Illinois was able to explode offensively scoring five runs in the top of the seventh. The highlight of the Inning went to Dougie Parks, as he belted his fifth homer of the season. Parks drove a two run homer to left field. The Panthers were able to jump out to a 7-2 lead after the seventh.


Robert Morris would put some pressure on the EIU pitching staff as they would tack on three runs in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Panther lead down to 7-5. Eastern Illinois however, answered back in the top of the eighth inning extending their lead to 11-5. Beaman who switched to the designated hitter in the seventh for the Panthers drove a two run triple to right field. Beaman would later come around to score on a passed ball.


Turnock finished 2-for-4 with two runs, and a walk. Joseph Duncan finished 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and a RBI. Parks ended the day 1-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs, a homerun, and walk.
