Eastern Illinois University(이스턴일리노이대학교)Swimming Brings In Six More For 2017-18

Eastern Illinois head men's and women's swimming coach Jacqueline Michalski has announced the addition of six new members that will join the program at the start of the 2017-18 season. Christopher Dixon, Erin Farley, Scott House, Austin Kueck, Sarah Lohman and Lindsey Wood will join Race Archibald, Ivan Escott and Nicole Wakefield as new additions to the team for next season (see article).

"We have a very impressive 2021 class," said Michalski. "I'm excited to welcome Sarah, Erin, Lindsey, Chris, Jason and Austin to the program. This class will bring depth and top-end speed to our team for next year."

CHRISTOPHER DIXON:

Dixon was a four-year member of the West Jessamine High School swimming program in Nicholasville, Kentucky, under the direction of Roger Kehrt, Cody Barnes and Lindsay Guzmann. Dixon held a pair of county records in the 200 and 500-Free. While at West Jessamine he was a four-time state qualifier and a two-time state finalist. He was named as an all-region team member twice. He was a Kentucky Swimming Zone team member in 2016. Dixon earned the honor as serving as team captain for West Jessamine during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.

"Chris, along with fellow freshman Austin (Kueck), will be able to make an impact on our team in the distance events," commented Michalski.

SCOTT HOUSE:

House swam for Head Coach Harold Baker for his club swimming team in Williamsburg, Virginia. At the Virginia Seniors, House placed second in the 100-Free, seventh in the 50-Free and eighth in the 200-Free. He earned his National Club Swimming Associate cuts in the 100-Back and the 50, 100 and 200-Free at the Virginia Seniors.

"Scott House has had a very impressive senior year and will come to the team and make a huge impact in the 100 and 200-Free," commented Michalski.

AUSTIN KUECK:

Kueck was a member of the Farmington High School swimming program in Minnesota under the direction of Ryan Hamen. While at Farmington, Kueck was an all-state honoree and collected all-conference accolades twice while being named as an all-conference honorable mention once. Kueck broke the school record in the 200-Medley Relay (fly), 200-Free and 500-Free at Farmington during his career. Kueck helped lead Farmington to a pair of I-AA True Team Section Championships as well as the Missota Conference Championship once and the I-AA Section Championships five times.

"Austin will not only be a great addition in the distance events, but also in the 200 and the fly events," said Michalski.

ERIN FARLEY:

Farley swam for Chris Plumb and Ian Murray at Carmel High School in Indiana. Prior to attending Carmel High School, Farley was a member of the swimming program at Rio Rancho High School in New Mexico, where she earned a sixth-place finish in state in the 500-Free. This past season at Carmel, Farley qualified for the Speedo Sectionals.

"Erin is a very well rounded swimmer, whose talent will be showcased in the 400-IM and the 200-Fly," stated Michalski.

SARAH LOHMAN:

Lohman will join the EIU program after spending the last four seasons as a member of the Mesquite High School swimming program in Gilbert, Arizona, under the direction of Nicholas Ottem. Lohman was one of the top swimmers for Mesquite starting with her freshman year as she was named as the team's Rookie of the Year. She followed that up by being named as the team's Most Valuable Swimmer the next three seasons and was even named as the women's team captain her senior year. Lohman made it to the AIA Division II State Tournament during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. As a senior, she swam in the 100-Fly and the 50-Free and placed 10th and 12th respectively.

"Sarah comes to us from Arizona and will be a great addition to our team in our sprint events," said Michalski of Lohman.

LINDSEY WOOD:

Wood was a four-year member of the Ionia High School swimming program in Michigan under the direction of Amy Fuller and Lisa Fitzpatrick. She is the younger sister of junior Patrick Wood of the EIU men's swimming team. Wood set a pair of freshman records at Ionia in the 100-Free and the 200-IM. As a senior, Wood won the 200 and 500-Free events at the League Championships. She also earned multiple all-conference awards and top-eight finishes while at Ionia. Wood was named as Ionia's Most Valuable Swimmer this past season. Wood was also an academic all-state recipient.

"Lindsey Wood, younger sister to rising senior Patrick Wood, has been accepted as a Presidential Scholar here at EIU," said Michalski. "She will add to the tradition of strong academic tradition we have as a team and will help us in the pool in the freestyle events."

"The class of 2021 does not only have talent in the pool, but also within the classroom," ended Michalski.
